Toot’s Story

Here is a piece I put together about the story of my good friend Larry “Toot” Selick for the series How to Save a Life at Victory Family Church. His story is an awesome example of how God pursues us, and uses people to do it.

Thanks again to Toot for being faithful to what has been entrusted to him. He is changing lives!

[Shot on a Canon 7D with a 1.8 50mm lens, and a panasonic HVX200. All audio was captured on a lapel mic to the HVX]

Sandra Campbell’s Story

This past week I had the privilege of participating in one of the most significant interviews I have ever been a part of.

All of the month of September Victory Family Church is featuring a series entitled At Risk. This series oultlines some of the more serious risks that people are seseptable to in our culture, everything from pornography to teen suicide. Our hope is to help people avoid some of these devastating circumstances or to lift the lives people that are currently facing some of them.

Sandra Campbell is a mother who has experienced something no parent should ever have to experience. The loss of their child. Please take the time to watch Sandra’s story about how she is finding hope in a difficult time, and what an amazing young girl her daughter Maggie Campbell was. This is a must watch for parents, it deals directly the issue of bullying that teens and young people face every day in schools all over america.

Easter Highlight Video 2010

Every year Victory Family Church hosts a community wide easter egg hunt called Eggstravaganza. There are always multiple thousands of people that show up. The best part is they all get the opportunity to hear the amazing life changing message of the gospel. This year was no different.

The Making Of…

I owe a huge thank you to my volunteers. Nathan and Brad did a fantastic job of filming. They used the Panasonic HVX200 and the  Panasonic HMC150. All of the slow motion footage was shot using the HMC150 at 60 frames per second (720 60p) I slowed the footage down to 24p (23.976 fps) using the cinema tools conform feature.

Finally, I used the Canon 7D (Tokina 16-50mm f/2.8) for all of the time lapse footage. I posted up on the roof at about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, the day we set up, and took an exposure every 10 seconds (with a remote) until about 3:00 p.m. On Friday, the day of the event, I did the same thing from 8:30 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. I ended up with over 4000 stills stitched together at 60 fps.

Making the ChrisMart.in Header

Here is a quick look at how I created my header super colorful, light streaky, LED looking header image.

I got my inspiration (and some free high res light streaks) from Barton Damer. He is one of the most incredible motion graphics artist I have ever seen. The dude has skills. You can check out his light streak tutorial at alreadybeenchewed.net

Q & A Promo

This April Victory Family Church is doing a Question and Answer series. We produced this simple and clean looking promo with the Panasonic HVX 200 some lighting, and a savage white vinyl backdrop.

I had a little bit of trouble, because I used warmer lights on the subjects and cooler lights on the backdrop. I fixed this in post with the 3-way color corrector in FCP.

Motion graphics were done with Apple’s Motion.
